COVID-19 Regulations

How The National School of Aesthetics Operates during the COVID-19 Pandemic at Any Alert Level

Updated 16 August 2023

COVID-19 is a current pandemic sweeping the world. Unfortunately, New Zealand is not immune from this illness.

As of 11:59 PM on Monday, 14 August 2023, the New Zealand Government removed all remaining mandatory public health requirements.

If you are showing any of the COVID-19 symptoms, we highly suggest you use a RAT (rapid antigen test) to determine if you have COVID-19. The latest health advice on COVID-19 includes:

  • Stay at home if you are feeling unwell – if you, or someone in your household develops one or more of the following symptoms, you should take a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) for COVID-19: a runny nose, sore throat, cough, fever, vomiting, diarrhoea, headache, loss of smell or taste, shortness of breath.
  • If you have tested positive for COVID-19, it is recommended you isolate for 5 days, even if you only have mild symptoms, starting at Day 0, which is the day your symptoms started or when you tested positive, whichever came first.
  • If you do need to leave your home during your 5-day isolation period, it is very important you take precautions to prevent spreading COVID-19 to others. You should wear a mask whenever you leave the house. You should not visit a healthcare facility (except to access medical care), an aged residential care facility, or have contact with anyone at risk of getting seriously unwell with COVID-19.
  • If you are in isolation at the time of the setting change announcement, we recommend you continue isolating until you have completed 5 days. If you have already been isolating for 6 or 7 days, and are well, you can return to your normal activities.
  • After completing 5 days isolation
    • If your symptoms have resolved and you feel well, you can return to your normal activities.
    • If you still feel unwell, we recommend you stay home until you have recovered.
    • We recommend you wear a mask if you need to visit a healthcare facility or an aged residential care facility, or you have contact with anyone at risk of getting seriously unwell with COVID-19 up until 10 days after your symptoms started or you tested positive. This is because some people are infectious for up to 10 days.

Mask wearing remains an important way we can prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses.

Getting the COVID-19 Vaccine

Many pharmacies allow walk-in appointments to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

Two doses are required to be considered fully-vaccinated initially.

Usually 3 weeks or more should be between the first and second doses.

Most people will require a booster. Some people may require a third dose. Your doctor should be able to advise you on this.

With walk-in appointments widely available, we strongly encourage ākonga / students to get their vaccinations outside of class hours. Ākonga / Students may miss vital lessons if they take time off to get vaccinated.

Our Regulations for Operating During COVID-19 Pandemic

  • All visitors must sign in on the visitors’ register. See Contact Tracing / Visitors Register for more information.

  • We welcome face mask usage for anyone who feels they need or want to wear a mask.
Vaccination Requirement

Currently, we do not require all ākonga / students, clients, or other visitors to the National School of Aesthetics to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

For your own protection though, and for the protection of the more vulnerable members of our community, we urge you to get fully vaccinated against COVID-19 if you are not.

This requirement may change with Government requirements in the future.

Regulations for Clients and Visitors

Visitors Register

You will need to:

  • Complete the visitors’ register at reception before you enter the school proper.
  • Follow the instructions of the team member or ākonga / student you are with.
  • Sign out at reception before you leave the school.
Why Do We Need You to Sign In?

The visitors’ register fulfills a few different roles.

  • If there is a fire, earthquake, or another event where we need to evacuate the building, we need to account for every person at the assembly point. The visitors’ register gives us a good idea of how many visitors are inside the building.
  • If we have an outbreak at the school, we can contact trace visitors, if required.
